Sirius to Apple: how about a satellite iPod?

As cool as something like having an iPod version of the satellite setup for Sirius users would seem to most of us, I am not all that convinced that Apple is all on board for such an idea. I think it depends on how much control Apple is willing to share with a potential partner. Speaking personally, I think it could happen.
How about a iPod with a satellite radio receiver built-in? Sirius Satellite Radio CEO Mel Karmazin thinks it’s a great idea. However, Apple doesn’t eye-to-eye with him, saying that “they don’t need to put a satellite radio in their box,” according to Karmazin. (Possibly because it would mean a much bigger “box.”)
Originally pitched as the ultimate device for rush-hour drivers, satellite radio companies Sirius and XM are looking for new audiences for their products. In October, XM introduced the Delphi XM MyFi, a wearable a receiver, and Sirius reportedly has a similar product in the works. Signing up a partner like Apple would be a major coup for either one of them. Competition for subscribers is fierce, and both companies have been throwing around massive amounts of money to lock up the likes of Howard Stern, the NFL, and Major League Baseball.
