Got Spam? Thank Gary Thuerk

  • No Related Post

Who? Gary Thuerk. Known as the Father of Spam. In 1978, when the Internet was still Arpanet, he sent an email to 400 people, inviting West Coast techies to a demonstration of Digital Equipment Corporation’s new Decsystem-20 computer. In an eSecurityPlanet.com article entitled “Father of Spam Speaks Out on His Legacy,” Gary Thuerk, now in sales at Hewlett-Packard Co., gives the details on the first use of unsolicited email. It’s a fascinating and enlightening interview; a must-read for Internet history buffs.
