In a move that will hopefully make some strides in the third world, the BBC reports that a global fund to help developing countries shrink the tech gap. The UN has made it known for quite some time now that they want to see more Internet access for smaller. less developed countries in the world today.
President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal said it would seek voluntary donations. Technology is seen by many as a way of helping developing nations educate their people, make them healthier and escape poverty. But richer countries rejected the idea of compulsory donations at a UN summit in Geneva in December 2003.
