I.B.M. Settles Part of Pension Lawsuit

As some of you may already know, IBM found themselves in a situation with a lawsuit regarding a pension plan from the 1990’s allegedly discriminating against older workers of that period. Looks like they are now on there way to rectifying the problem according to The New York Times.

I.B.M. said yesterday that it was in talks to settle a lawsuit contending that a pension plan adopted by the company in the 1990’s discriminated against 140,000 older workers. I.B.M. agreed this week to settle a small part of the lawsuit, involving a few thousand workers, in a case that has been closely watched by many large companies with similar pension plans.
