Well looks like the government is working to ram the piracy act through just as fast as possible. This law will help to make sure that civil matters like copyright infringement will become punishable by up to three years in prison.
The Pirate Act took another step closer towards becoming law yesterday, as the House Judiciary Committee approved the bill. This sets the stage for a vote by the full US House of Representatives on the bill, a version of which has already been passed by the Senate. Under provisions of the Pirate Act, those found to have distributed over 1,000 songs over P2P networks would face up to 3 years in prison. Additionally, a piece of questionnable anti-spyware legislation providing jail times for unauthorized spyware installation also advanced through the Committee.
