A new planet has been discovered by a tiny 4-inch diameter telescope, much like you might find at your local WalMart. A new planet, that is got to be an event worth marking on our time line, right? It is so cool that even something meek as home-sized telescope can be responsible for the discovery of a new world. Pretty darn amazing.

A telescope with a 4-inch (10.16 cm) diameter — about the size that some backyard astronomers might use — tracked the periodic dimming of light from a bright star 500 light-years away. A light-year is about 6 trillion miles (10 trillion km), the distance light travels in a year.”
