eBay Denies Report Of Database Hack

AuctionBytes.com reports that eBay denies being hacked by the Nigerian 419 syndicate.
Quoted from AuctionBytes.com:
eBay spokesperson Hani Durzy said, “eBay’s database was not hacked, eBay’s credit card database has never been hacked, and it was not hacked here. We are in constant communication with the U.S. Secret Service, they have not contacted us, and we have not heard from the South African police.”
Is it possible that the whole thing is nothing more than a hoax? It is beginning to look that way.

I don’t know, I’ve had several ebay messages sent from my account over the past few days, and I know for a fact I’ve not fallen victim to any phising emails - I haven’t accessed my account since the start of the year.
I went on today to change the password. Thankfully I don’t use PalPal.
