The Supreme Court of Canada ruled that Canadian ISPs will not have to pay royalties to music artists from music downloaded by internet downloaders. Apparently companies offering internet services are looked upon as “intermediaries” and will not be held responsible for the downloading music from file sharing networks. In court, the ISPs argued that artists need to seek royalties elsewhere and not from ISPs specifically. The court agreed with a ruling in favor of the ISPs.
