Inside the Black Hole

We all know the Black Hole. Many of us even have a good idea of what’s in there- single socks, that favorite shirt, keys… things like that. Once in a long while, something may be spit back out, usually showing up in exactly the spot that we thought the thing should be. One of the biggest entry points to The Black Hole has to be in airports around the country.
Things disappear. Luggage is the top contender. This, then, is one of the few known places where we can pinpoint an exit point- Unclaimed Baggage Center.
This ‘exit ramp’ from the great unknown is located in northern Alabama and you can find all manner of things that have shown up, mysteriously some say, but usually encased in some nameless lump of luggage. Having run out of storage space, the people at Unclaimed Baggage Center decided to start selling the wildly varied things that show themselves (sometimes after years have gone by).
The plus side of this is that there are a number of things digital included in their stock. The items are one-only in most cases, although spontaneous cloning while in The Black Hole has been a popular rumor for years.
I’ve seen laptops, PDA’s, and digital cameras, along with an occasional cassette voice recorder (remember the ‘years may pass’ thing?). For those who have a wider appreciation of ‘things’, there are sometimes pieces of art or folk crafts. The lumpy luggage itself is, of course, a perennial category.
