Hype about Hydrogen

Free registration required to read the article. “…hydrogen cars are likely to remain inferior to the best gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles such as the Toyota Prius in virtually every respect—cost, range, annual fueling bill, convenience, safety—through at least 2030. The Prius will even have lower overall emissions of many pollutants than cars running on the hydrogen that is likely to be available at fueling stations for the foreseeable future. And a premature push toward hydrogen cars would undermine efforts to reduce the heat-trapping carbon dioxide emissions that cause global climate change.

For hydrogen cars to become both practical from a consumer’s perspective and desirable from an environmental perspective will require at least three major technology breakthroughs. In addition, the nation will have to shift its energy policy dramatically toward renewable energy sources such as wind and solar.”

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When you burn Hydrogen the only exhaust is water vapor and a small trace amount of nox. The prius on the other hand uses a gasoline engine in tandem with an electric motor. The nox is significantley greater. In fact you can convert ANY late model engine with a carborator and convert it to run straight hydrogen. The only modification is a simple ignition and valve timing adjustment. the reason is since hydrogen burns quicker (and more completely) than gasoline, diesel, propane, or any other fuel on the market.
Now I will debunk the misconseption that it is more dangerous in saying that it is a gas and not a liquid. Once released into the atmosphere it disperses too quickly too ignite. and even if it does it will only burn for an instant. I want you to try something for me… take 1 cup of gasoline and pour it anywhere safe on the ground. than light it up and tell me how long it takes.
