OFFICE 2003 CRITICAL UPDATE: NOVEMBER 11, 2003

“…I have no idea why, but on November 4, Microsoft released the November 11 patch for Office 2003.
I guess they figured they needed a week-long head start on the patch. A more catty observer than I would note that Office 2003 has only been out for two weeks, and we’re already getting “critical” patches.
The problem arises when you try to open a Word doc, Excel spreadsheet, or PowerPoint presentation with a WordArt object that was created in Office XP or earlier.
There’s a hard bug that can keep you from opening the document in Office 2003. The bug may also scramble the doc or trigger various spurious messages, including the ever-popular “There is insufficient memory. Save the document now.”
This is an Office 2003 problem. Big time bug. But if you’re using Office XP or 2000, fuhgeddaboutit.”
