Patching Microsoft’s Patch Process

Microsoft is working on streamlining its patch process. More vulnerabilities are being addressed in each patch, duplicate patch file names are being eliminated, and the number of patch installation mechanisms are being reduced from eight to two. Software Update Services (SUS) v2.0 is being promised for next spring, more tools that scan for patch application have been released, and a more predictible schedule for new patch releases is being followed.
