Auto-Patching for SQL Server On Its Way

There’s been a lot of speculation this week on when, whether and if Microsoft will make its patch-update feature an automatic default in Windows Longhorn. But it seems the Redmond software giant already is working on making auto-update a part of current and future versions of SQL Server. Microsoft isn’t talking dates as to when automatic patching for SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 7.0 and SQL Server ‘Yukon’ will go live, but it’s a given. Also, Security Supersite Editor Larry Seltzer reminds us all that auto-patching is already part of Windows XP and Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 and 4.
