[Via Gemal.dk] The open source unified messaging program, Miranda IM, has become the victim of license violation, after an Australian/Russian company called QuickRiver Ltd. used their source code in their own program, ZeeZ IM, and removed all credits from it. The program is also released under a proprietary license, even though Miranda’s license states that all derivate work must be covered by the same license (aka ’share alike’).
Miranda IM is licensed under the Free Software Foundation’s General Public License, the same license behind the Linux operating system and many other open source applications. It is seen as an open source alternative to the popular Trillian messaging client.
