Liteon PhoMaster LVD-2001 DVD player - Ultimate DVD player?

Being one of the first to have recently acquired a Liteon PhoMaster LVD-2001 DVD player, I thought it would be useful to provide a non-biased review of one of the first DivX/MPEG 4 DVD player available in the United States.
Like many other first generation MPEG-4 compatible DVD players, the LVD-2001 is powered by a Sigma Designs EM8500 DVD decoder chipset. Unfortunately for us in the USA, to the exception of the KISS DP-450 dvd player the choice is fairly limited. So this review will not compare this player to any other DivX compatible standalone player.
