If you saw the Terminator 2 movie, you’ll remember the T-1000 shape-shifting liquid metal robot. Well, NASA has been working on the technology and describes how to create your own liquid metal using ordinary ingredients.
“We call them magnetorheological fluids–or ‘MR fluids’ for short,” says Alice Gast, a professor of chemical engineering at MIT. “They’re liquids that harden or change shape when they feel a magnetic field.”
