The Big Dig’s Big Brain

Having lived in MA for several years this held particular interest for me and also for what it may allow city planner to do in the future. Part of the Big Dig’s construction has included miles and miles of fiber optic cable linked to a computer which can check all 40,000 data points every 3 seconds. I will be very interested to see how much difference this makes when it comes to congestion, accidents, etc.
