Scientist created working brain prosthesis

According to New Scientist, scientists have created a rat hippocampus on a chip, which is able to integrate into a rat brain and provide the functionality — storing memories — in place of a damaged hippocampus. They say it shouldn’t be very hard to extend this technology to monkeys and eventually humans.

Put me down for a USB sub-medulla tap or a vertabral firewire port to jack into that chip. Then maybe I could remember where I left those car keys.
