“A number of customers who ordered Dell Computer’s new Axim X5 handheld are complaining it is taking too long to get their hands on the devices.” Dell’s message boards are filled with complaints on the wait time of the Dell Axim X5, which was introduced in November. A Dell spokesman states that the company is “working real hard to fill orders as expediently as possible.” Although the normal wait time is two weeks, it can be even longer if accessories are ordered at the time of purchase.

I know exactly how these people feel–I am one of them. I ordered the entry level Dell Axim on January 9th. I checked today (January 21st) and according to the site, Dell hasn’t even started to build the PDA. Although I am a supporter of Dell and it’s products, it irks me that it can take upwards of a month to recieve a PDA, when they normally ship out a full PC in less time. How can it take this long to build a PDA? It’s almost worth saving a few extra bucks and going for another brand…..but who knows, maybe I’ll change my mind when I actually get it.
