MIT’s WinXP Security Guidelines

MIT has released 12 security tips for those using Windows XP to connect to their network. For those with any kind of serious security background these tips are fairly redundant; they are primarily aimed at the everyday home user. Not a bad idea really, especially when you consider the number of people who are using the OS. However, I have always wondered how much effect things like this have. I read a recent article which stated that virii have increased in transmission by 80% in the past year, mostly due to poor home user security. Do any of them read things like this? Do they not understand them? Oh well, maybe it will help some people.
