I’m probably behind the times but I just realized this today.

It sounds weird but it’s now available from at least the major banks. I currently pay my Credit Cards etc. through online banking and now I can send somebody a payment via email.

“With this service, you can send money to and receive money from anyone with an email address and a Canadian bank account. It’s easy, quick and secure!”.

How? With a simple security question I can email via the banks website a link that will allow the recipient to collect the money I have setup to transfer. The link opens CertaPay which is the service provider that facilitates transfers between what seems to be the CIBC, BOM, TD and Scotia Bank but I’m sure this is available for banks in the USA too. Enter the security question and the transfer from one account to another takes place.
