How to Disable Spam Invites from Google+ Appearing on Google Calendar

Not long ago, Chris Pirillo mentioned that he no longer uses Google Calendar because of all the spam invites that he gets via Google+. Whether or not Chris has figured out this workaround by now (quite likely), I figured I’d pass it along to those of you who might be encountering the same frustration. If this helps even one of you, I’ll be happy!

I learned the hard way today that this doesn’t work. It hides the events only from -you-, and anybody who you’ve shared your calendar with can still see them.

From the tool tip for that setting: “If you select no, you won’t see any events on your calendar except for those which you’ve responded yes to. This setting only applies to you. People you’ve shared your calendar with will still be able to see all events on your calendar.”

AgentOddball is correct. If you share your calendar, Plus forces the people you share it with to see every piece of event spam you get (and yes, even after applying the settings mentioned here). This makes calendar quite useless.
