It’s finally happened. Send-Safe, the choice of spammers the world ’round, has finally been kicked off the MCI network. Of course Send-Safe had a safe harbour in MCI for way too long - Send-Safe was able to to provide safe sending services to spammers through the MCI network despite months of pressure from the anti-spam industry, including well-known agency SpamHaus, and even sister ISPs, all of whom had been telling MCI for way too long that Send-Safe was one of the biggest providers of anonymous spam sending services around.
Of course, MCI knew that. But, you know, money talks - and apparently it spams, as well. Send-Safe was undoubtedly a high-paying customer.
You may recall that Aunty wrote about MCI’s little problem just two weeks ago in the context of the irony of Verizon, the ISP that won’t accept e-mail from outside the U.S. as part of its spam control policy, acquiring MCI, the ISP that won’t stop spamming.
In fact, one has to wonder whether it wasn’t pressure from the anti-spam groups and ISPs which lead to Send-Safe finally getting the boot from MCI so much as it may have been a fly in the Verizon-MCI nuptials. Anyone doing even the most minor of due diligence (yes, that is - or rather should be - an oxymoron) would have come across the Send-Safe situation - after all, Send-Safe is very open about what it does. In fact, this is a direct quote from its homepage:
“Send-Safe is a bulk e-mail software program based on a unique know-how sending technology. It provides real anonymous instant delivery - you can use your regular Internet connection because your IP address will never be shown…
