FCC Publishes List of Cellphone Domains and Says “Please Don’t Spam These”

The Federal Communications Commission, as part of its CAN-SPAM responsibilities, has published a list of domains in an effort to cut down on spam to cellular telephones.

However, there seems to be some confusion as to what exactly the list is, and its intended purpose.

According to the Las Vegas Sun - attributing their information to the Associated Press - it’s a list of domains from which spam to cellphones has been found to have been sent, the domains were reported to the FCC by the cell phone companies, and the listed sites have thirty days to stop sending unwanted text messages to cellphones.

Sadly, they’re wrong. Oh, so wrong.

The FCC website itself says:
