Taking a page from Bush the Senior, who immortalized the words “Read My Lips, No New Taxes,” President Bush today signed into law a three-year ban on the taxation of Internet connections.
The new law completely bans any tax on any sort of Internet connection, from dial-up to broadband.
Said Senator George Allen of Virginia, “I cannot envision any time in the history of our country when it would make sense to be imposing taxes on broadband or the Internet, no matter where one is or who one may be.”
Of course, logic and lawmaking often seem to be sitting on opposite sides of the room.
Happy we are that in this case they have intersected.
