What Bloggers Want (1)

Why do bloggers blog? That’s an easy one… they want their opinions and thoughts to be heard. They take great comfort in knowing that someone, somewhere in the blogosphere will read and understand what they have to say.
Bloggers are writers, authors, diarists, etc. and as with any writer, the purpose of putting their virtual quills to electronic parchment is to stir some sort of emotion in their readers. In order to do that, someone has to actually read what they have to say.
Getting readers means getting traffic to their blogs.
As a person who owns and runs a popular blog search engine and directory, I spend my waking hours helping people do just that. I answer countless questions about generating blog traffic. I research and publish my thoughts and opinions on the subject on my own blog and in my newsletter in an effort to help bloggers in their quest for expanding their readership. (ok, enough shameless self promotion)
Now, if you read a lot of blogs, you already know that some bloggers are better writers than others. What they say is worth reading on a daily basis. One of the better wordsmiths out here in the blogosphere is Lynn Terry. Her Clicknewz blog is a collection of day to day thoughts outlining her experiences with motherhood, running an online business and taking care of her elderly grandmother.
This morning she posted this: “It seems to me that promoting a Blog is MUCH easier than promoting a website, or a newsletter. There are so many directories, blog-specific search engines and such that you could literally sit and spend half an hour ’submitting your blog’… and end up with several hundred visitors a day - consistently. How easy is it to get 3,000-10,000 visitors/month to a brand new website?”
Yes, not only is Lynn a dynamic new blogger, she actually gets the whole blog promotion thing! Niche blog directories, search engines and RSS sites are a great start for new and seasoned bloggers interested in getting their voices heard, and you’ll find a big list by clicking right here.
