Mophie Juice Pack Universal Powerstation Pro Review

Mophie Juice Pack Universal Powerstation Pro ReviewThis product was sent to me as a review unit by our friends over at Mobile Fun. All opinions are 100% my own.

When I told our contact at Mobile Fun that I was interested in trying out a charger for my iPhone, I had no idea what the company would pick out to send me. At the time, I was preparing for a six-day trip to San Francisco to attend the Apps World North America conference. I knew from past experience that my battery would never last all day, every day and I needed something to give me that extra bit of juice.

When I received my package from the company, I was immediately excited to see the Mophie Juice Pack Universal Powerstation Pro. I had always heard good things about Mophie, so I was pretty confident I’d be quite happy with this power brick. I wasn’t disappointed.

I charged the Powerstation fully at home as the directions indicated and then threw it in my shoulder bag. I actually ran low on battery during my long flight, so I plugged my phone in to the Mophie and kept using my iPad. Even though I was listening to music, reading a book, and constantly checking my email, my battery indicator kept going up. The Juice Pack was allowing me to keep doing all of the things I wanted while also still charging my battery to about 80%. I was sitting at around 9% when I connected the two devices, so that’s pretty impressive.

Fast forward to conference days. My poor phone got a massive workout. Before the day was halfway through, I was in the red as far as my battery was concerned. No problem! I pulled out the Mophie brick during an hour-long session and left my phone alone. All apps in the tray were closed and I didn’t touch the iPhone at all during the session. Lo and behold, when I unplugged it at the end of the hour, my beloved phone was back up to 91% battery charge! I did not expect it to work quite that well. I was shocked — and a very happy person.

The Powerstation Pro isn’t nearly as heavy as you might think from looking at it. The size works well to slip into my shoulder bag. The Powerstation Pro has an impact and splash resistant design thanks to the rubber housing. The IP-65 rating means that this external battery is guaranteed to prevent dust and water penetration. That is definitely a plus if you’re like me and love to go camping or fishing.

The best part of this product is that it is not only designed to charge Apple products. You can use the Mophie Juice Pack to charge pretty much any USB device. I’m serious! We tested it out at home on my fiance’s Samsung Galaxy S III and his Kindle Fire HD. Both charged beautifully and quickly — just like my Apple products did.

You may balk a little at the price tag of this external battery, but I promise it’s worth the money — and then some. It simply works well, every time you need it. What more could you ask for?
