Intel Shrinks 1 gb of Flash into 65nm

Cell phones are going to get a little more room when Intel’s latest advancement is soldered into them. Announcing it’s latest advancement Tuesday, Intel has developed a process that allows what it once did in 90nm to do in 65nm. Nearly slicing a third of fat off the chip, Intel’s NOR Flash memory will hold 1 gigabit of memory in the minute space of 65 nanometers.

“With these offerings, Intel continues to lead in providing the industry’s most advanced NOR flash memory for the mainstream handset market segment,” said Brian Harrison, Intel vice president and general manager of the Flash Memory Group. “Our 65nm process technology will improve flash performance to enable the next generation of handsets that deliver new and enhanced capabilities for end-users.”

This means more video, ringtones, and pictures on your future phones and smartphones people! Enjoy the new room.
