Action games for the Palm OS are rather rare. AstraWare’s My Little Tank is a 2D platformer where you drive a little tank around on various missions!
After the game starts up, one immediately notes how lively the game environment is. You fight in swamps, deserts, icy worlds, and cities.
The objects in the environment all have lives of their own. For example, buildings, walls, and radar stations can be destroyed.
Various power-ups lay around in the levels. They can give you invulnerability, more health, more speed, or they can freeze or kill your enemies.
The game also has background music and real sound effects. Controls are very simple: left-right-up-down-fire is all you need.
Though the AI can go bonkers at times, the game is not really difficult. You’ve got three basic mission objectives in different combinations:
- Destroy enemy tanks
- Destroy enemy buildings
- Protect your base
The game requires 4300k of RAM to run. In addition, it permanently gobbles up 1600k.
