iJeans Going Too Far?

Levi’s has announced that it has created a pair of jeans just for iPods. The jeans have neither the “Made for iPod” logo or the name “i” in front of it, but still, is it just too much? The RedWire DLX line of jeans will have a special pocket of the iPod and it will be tethered to a built in remote which will allow the ultra cool jean wearer to change tracks without yanking the iPod out of it’s special pocket. The jeans will be available near the end of the year just in time for parents to waste $200 a pair on their trendy lifestyle children’s desires. Sick.

I love the iPod and everything about it, but I’ve got to say, this is going too far. Creating jeans with a built in cord for remote and ear phone hock up is just lame. Ya, Scott eVest has been doing something like this for a while now, but truth is, that line of clothing is for an entire different focus. Levi’s is going specifically for the hot iPod market and is almost jumping on the bandwagon like many investors did in the late 90’s when they heard the phrase “dot come.”

Is $200 a good deal for such an invention? Well, I do have to admit, I once wore a pair of parachute pants and they weren’t cheap and by next school year, they were out. So maybe this invention may be what the kiddies need for a year or two. Or maybe it’s time we just stand up and say, “Enough!”

Now where are those parachute pants, I just remembered how many pockets those things had. Tons of iPod holding power there!
