Xbox Coming to a Phone Near You

You know, it’s just not enough to be tethered to your gaming console when at home. No, there needs to be more pull on your life from that Xbox of yours. Say if you’re out at the movies with your date and King Kong is just about half way through it’s three plus hours and you are really burning to know when Jimmy is going to fire up his Xbox, what do you do? Call him? Nah, just let your phone tell you itself.
The BBC has got Jason Langridge of Microsoft telling ‘em that, “a team at Microsoft were working on integrating Xbox Live with its instant messaging program, MSN Messenger.” By doing so, Pocket PC’s and smartphones running the Windows Mobile operating system will be easy targets for notification when Jimmy comes online to Xbox Live. It won’t be all about when your homeboy comes on line, either. His or her stats will be available along with some other Xbox centric stuff. All from the comforts of your phone…while enjoying Kong.
Now the sad news. While Langridge tells the BBC that it’s very near, near in Microsoft talk could be years in reality. Langridge says it’ll be out in about six months…right about the release date of the PS3. Mmmm, interesting. :)
