Arcade Game that Will Make Your Palm Happy

I’m always sucked in by space games. I loved Galaxian — and still do — as a kid. I could spend hours playing that game. Xevious rocked, too. Yes, I know, I’m dating myself, sorry. Well let me catch up with the times and introduce you to Plazmoids.

Plazmoids is a new game that borrows on the space idea of my old-school arcade games but adds a bit of reality to it. According to Intorine, this game, “Employs the physical laws of acceleration, momentum, and magnetism. You are in control of a spacecraft that scours space for plazmoids - valuable energy resources - and collects them through the use of a hi-tech magnetic beam.” Wow, so does that mean you hear nothing when you zap a ship? Oh ya, it said laws for acceleration, momentum, and magnetism. Nothing about laws of sound which require air to be heard. (Sorry, pet peeve of mine in sci-fi movies. :) ) Hey, don’t let you think I’m knocking this game, because from the screen shots and bullet list of what it does, this thing looks like it rocks! I mean, it has 16-bit, high resolution graphics with hi-res+ support, “12 enemy ships each with its own features and behaviour, grouped in 3 races: pirates, magnetic robots, and self-reproducing aliens, each with their mother-ship”, 5 different types of space objects, 4 types of weapons, equipment upgrade, and support for the once living Tapwave Zodiac (which includes support for the analog controls and vibration feature.) Ya, told ya, it rocks.

I’m sure this will pass a lot of time in the airport waiting for your plane to board for you…and let you continue your journey while on your flight.
