Palm Developer, Textware, Kills FITALY for Palm OS

  • No Related Post

Is this of things to come? Will more and more Palm OS developers just give up on PalmOS and PalmSource’s lagging operating system and follow Textware’s lead? Was Palm, Inc’s move to hug Bill Gates and his Pocket PC a death nail for the Palm OS?

Textware seems to think so with their news of killing their popular SIP (Soft Input Panel) for Palm OS, FITALY, by stating, “Our future PDA developments will all be based on the Pocket PC operating system. This is where we are likely to meet Palm devices again — such as the Treo 700w.”

So what does this mean for the future of other Palm OS software? Are we about to witness the slow death of Palm OS the way we know it? With PalmSource’s buyout and plans of concentrating on smartphone devices, one has to question the once dominant PDA OS. Textware is just the first of many that will surely vocally say with the termination of Palm OS software that there is no more future in Palm OS. Gee, has the Palm OS become Mac OS of yesteryear?
