Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 Out, But Who Cares?

  • No Related Post

So the Web is abuzz with the release of Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 with its ability to push e-mail to your Pocket PC device ala BlackBerry, but I say, “Who cares?”

See, one minor problem everyone is forgetting is that you need MSFP on your device for this to work - and guess what? It ain’t anywhere to be found!

Microsoft left it up to the OEMs to install MSFP on the devices ROM. Thus, this BlackBerry killer isn’t even really part of Windows Mobile 5. It’s more a feature of Verizon or Cingular than anything and we know just how quickly the carriers like implementing new software upgrades. Further, can you even find any devices with WM5 on it yet? Hey, don’t get me wrong, I’m super excited to get this push technology shoved out of my server, but let’s not get all giddy about something that is a two-parter and only one part is out the door! Sheesh, kids….
