Verizon Wireless seeks location deadline extension

It seems that Verizon is just not ready to be fully compliant with the mandate for location pinpointing on their mobiles just yet. Check back later, maybe they’ll have it then.
Verizon Wireless on Monday asked U.S. telecommunications regulators to extend a year-end deadline for 95 percent of its cellphones to be able to pinpoint location and help emergency workers find callers more easily.
Verizon Wireless, a venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ - news) and Vodafone Group Plc (VOD.L), said in a letter to the Federal Communications Commission that it would need an extra six months to meet the requirement. [Read the rest]
