How To Make Verizon Custom Ring Tones

Thanks to Qualcomm’s PureVoice technology, audio files may now be converted to a readable format for your Verizon cellular phone. All you need to get started is an audio file, an audio editing software like Audacity, and a phone with picture messaging enabled.
You can use Audacity to crop your audio file down to ring tone length, and then make sure to save it as a mono WAV file. Now it can be converted by PureVoice’s conversion software by using the command line or by drag and dropping the file in Windows onto the pvconv executable. The end result is a QCP file that, while readable by most phones, might need to have the extension changed to MIDI. This prevents Verizon from possibly denying the attachment. Then just send an e-mail to your provided phone’s e-mail address, phonenumber at vzwpix.com, and it will arrive on your phone shortly. Open the message, and you should be able to hear the audio if all went well. Then just save the file using your phone’s options menu.
This has been known to work on the majority of Verizon Wireless phones and for a few other cellular providers as well, but some providers just drop the attachment. Always check with your provider regarding charges that may apply for text and picture messaging.

I gave this a shot and it worked just fine! The one problem is, its saved as a sound on my phone and I cant seem to set it as the ringtone. I have one of those nifty red longish verizon phones.

I have a question. I have a Business phone tat doesnt allow me to receive picture texts. I just bought a microSD card for the phone,(VX-8300), and was wondering If I there was a way to transfer the MIDI or QCP files via the memory stick. Ive tried, but havent been able to get teh files to show up under My Ringtones section of my phone. Any help would be appreciated.

Just curious, I have a Verizon RAZR V3m; I also use a Mac. What I’m wanting to know is how I can send audio files from my Mac to my phone to use as ringtones, and if it’s possible to use a format other than .qcp. Any assistance you might be able to provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Start - Run - CMD. That takes you to the command line. Or, like the piece says, drag your wav file onto the pvconv.exe executable. You’ll get a .qcp file out of it. Change the file extension to .mid.

This is old. It doesn’t work anymore. I had to upload over verizon’s website. See this site for all the details: http://www.excastle.com/blog/archive/2007/10/07.aspx
