The Palm Treo 700what?

To all of those Palm users not happy about WM coming into play on the devices, take heart. It seems that consumer level devices will continue using the Palm OS.

Okay, it’s really real now. On the tail of the Business Week article last week “outing” the Windows Mobile version of the Treo, Engadget got their hands on one and started posting pictures. Today, Ed Colligan and Bill Gates shared a stage along with the CEO of Verizon to announce the Palm Treo 700w, even though they never actually called it that.

Let me burn away one rampant myth before it festers into “fact.” Palm is not “switching” to Windows Mobile. Ed actually said twice that they will continue to make Palm OS handhelds, so call off the funeral catering before you lose your deposit. Ed said he’s not interested in Symbian or Linux(?) but Palm OS ain’t goin’ anywhere. Okay? Calm down, have some dip. [Read the rest]
