SanDisk Will Distribute Preloaded Content On Memory Cards:

Some might argue the logic of selling pre-loaded memory cards as silly, however there are others who feel that the idea might just pay off.
SanDisk is expected to announce Tuesday that it be selling preloaded music and video on flash memory cards along with cards that can be filled with downloaded content, according to the WSJ. The cards, branded gruvi and with a suggested retail price of $39.99, also come with their own DRM but SanDisk says TrustedFlash isn’t device driven and that users will be able to move content between devices. Initial supporters include EMI Group, Samsungs cellphone division, Yahoo Music, PacketVideo Corp., News Corp.’s NDS Group.
The price could be a deterrent but the cards can be used to store consumer content. They’re also similar in price to Sony’s UMD, which is much more limited in terms of use. [Read the rest]
