Fight! Fight! Steve Jobs Calls Record Companies Greedy!

Shock of shock, Steve Jobs tells reporters in Paris what I’ve been saying for years: record labels are “greedy”!

We’ve been hearing for weeks, even months, how the record labels are pressuring Apple to raise prices for their product that iTunes Music Store sells. We’ve also been hearing how Steve Jobs, the champion of the consumer, has been digging in his heels on this proposition. Well, it looks like the labels still haven’t learned their lesson from the Napster episode early in this millennium and are really turning the screws on Apple. So Steve has taken his fight to the people and let out some choice words out for the French to mold into beautiful sounding fight calls. He said from the steps of the Apple Expo Paris (I’m sure this is how it happened,) “We’re trying to compete with piracy, we’re trying to pull people away from piracy and say, `You can buy these songs legally for a fair price,’” he said without once saying oui oui. “But if the price goes up a lot, they’ll go back to piracy. Then everybody loses.”

Yup, everyone loses. Or do they? We, the consumer, just go back to using WinMX or Limewire or even BitTorrent and the labels go back to record losses (pun intended.) So I’d really have to say the biggest loser will be Apple because their hard working honest made profit will go down the tubes. I don’t want that to happen because I have been thankful for iTMS and Steve Jobs’ strenuous labor he has had to endure with working with the labels. Trust me, I don’t want to go back the P2P route, but I know many others will if Hollywood’s greed sends a sucker punch Apple’s way.
