City’s WI-FI system helping reunite hurricane victims

Just one more wireless group doing what it can to help those affected by the hurricane down south.
When the city decided to expand it’s WI-FI computer network, helping reunite families wasn’t a specific goal. This week the system has helped dozens of evacuees at Memorial Coliseum and the American Bank Arena do just that.
Volunteers with “Family Link Online Services” have set up several computers that have allowed folks to find and in some instances contact loved ones they’ve been separated from.
“I’m looking for my daughter, and trying to see if she made it out of New Orleans alive or not. I just found out that she did, and just found out where she was at in Texas,” said Diane Pryer. “It made me feel better, and I’d feel much better if I could talk to her, and hold her for a little while.” [Read the rest]
