PalmSource Buy Out: Bringing it Back to Just Palm Again?

Man, I just have this nagging song in my head by Night Ranger, Rumors, because of all the rumors flying around on Wall Street of the possibility of Palm, Inc. buying out PalmSource. I don’t know what I dislike more, the Night Ranger song that won’t go away or the rumor that’s driving up PalmSource’s stock.

While both “palm” companies use to be one, then spun off to allow for more creativity and competition, it seems neither has come to pass and Palm, Inc. wants all things to return to the glory days of the Palm Pilot. How this works with the Treo 670 running Windows Mobile 2005, I’m not sure, but hey, rumors aren’t suppose to make sense, just make noise! :)

There’s a rumor going around Wall Street that Palm, Inc. is going to re-acquire PalmSource.

As often happens in situations like this, this rumor has driven up the price of PalmSource shares. Early last week, they were trading around $7.50, and they are currently going for $9.50. [Source]
