iTunes Music Store Messes Up Track Listing

  • No Related Post

I heard this new artist on XM’s The Torch and the display told me that I was listening to Sarah Br. Loving the 8 character limit on my Pioneer wide screen LCD, I did a Google search with that and the song name, Fire, with the added help of the world Christian. That found me Sarah Brendel and iTMS had her debut. But when I played Fire, it didn’t sound like what I had heard on The Torch.

Then I played another song, Catherine Wheel, and guess what? That’s the song I heard!! With Sarah repeating the word “fire” over and over in the chorus, I had a suspicion that The Torch was right and iTMS was wrong.

Jumping over to Amazon and doing a search for her brought up the picture-less information page for her album. There it was half way down the page, the track listing. The correct track listing. Oops, looks like iTMS did have the wrong tracking listing after all.

So, how does that happen? How does it get corrected? How can one report it? Why hasn’t Apple noticed this yet? Why do I ask so many questions? :) To answer the second question, just download the songs and rename them manually in iTunes. Since there really isn’t any other information listed per track, such as lyrics, it’s an easy enough fix. But truth is, Apple, this shouldn’t be needed to be done by the paying customer. This is something that should have been checked and confirmed prior to releasing the album. Isn’t that what we’re paying for? This is something I expect from Limewire, not iTMS. :)
