Altec Lansing has always been known for their excellent sounding speakers and was a welcomed arrival to the desktop PC speaker world when they boomed their way in. I was ecstatic to hear their FX6021 at January’s Macworld and bought a pair the minute they went on sale. Now Altec Lansing is bringing that same boom and rich sound to the little world of the iPod and when the inMotion iM7 launches in the next month, I think there are going to be a lot of happy campers!

The iM7 is so well thought out that one would think Apple and Altec Lansing are sister companies. It accepts all iPod’s from 3G on up as well as the iPod mini. So you can shuffle between your wife’s iPod mini and your iPod without worry of needing to have to purchase two different units.

It’s bazooka design is intentional as there is a 4″ woofer built-in to insure people know that you’re not just carrying a pretty white tube around. Along with that bass comes some sweet mids via the pair of 3″ neodymium drivers and crisp highs screaming from the two 1”
neodymium tweeters. Remember, this is an Altec Lansing, so don’t worry about the sound, it will be good.

Going beyond the sound, the iM7 also chargers your iPod while docked when plugged into an AC outlet. The eye-catching box comes with an international power adapter, so you’ll be able to duly impress both your British friends while hanging with them at the pub as well as your homies at the local Starbucks here on the other side of the Pond. Don’t worry, it works on batteries, too. :)

With so many other features like remote control, video output for your iPod photo, and a line-in input, the Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 is sure to be an instant hit, one which we’ll be reviewing real soon here at Lockergnome! The iPod accessory market is becoming quickly crowded, but I’m sure the inMotion will quickly run ahead of the pack and become the accessory to have!
