WM Freeware: BatMon 2k2

A friend of mine at work asked me if there was some type of Power indicator available for the Today screen on his Windows Mobile device. There isn’t one “out of the box” unfortunately, and I find this to be a real shame. The Today screen is probably the most often viewed screen on a WM device and remaining battery power is a important bit of info for a mobile device.

I recommended SPB’s PocketPlus application as it has two ways to show the remaining battery usage. However, it also provides a bunch of other functions that my friend didn’t want to use and therefore he was looking for some freeware. After searching far and wide, lo and behold, I found BatMon 2k2 from FogNog Software.

BatMon 2k2 is a VERY small application (only 11.5 kilobytes!) that provides a simple, but effective battery icon atop ALL screens in the menu bar. More information and a screen shot are available at techADDICTION.
