iPod Ranks With Terrorist Media Outlet As World’s Most Popular Brand

Steve Jobs may have mixed feelings about Brandchannel’s just released most influential brand list. While winning top honors as the world’s most recognized brand, Apple also shares the list with Arabic media channel Al Jazeera, which terrorists have used as their platform for announcements and highlights of their gruesome activities. A mixed bag, but still one that reveals the Cupertino, California company is doing something right. Once again, highlighting what a computer company did right and what an audio-video super company, Sony, did wrong, the iPod maker can celebrate another victory with this award that makes it more popular then even Coca Cola.
Apple, whose iPod has replaced Sony’s (6758.T: Quote, Profile, Research) Walkman as the personal media player to be seen with, topped both the global and North American rankings in the poll, displacing Google despite the splash caused by the search engine’s $1.7 billion auction-style initial public offering last year.
