Lexus “Adds” New Feature to LX & LS Line: Viruses

You knew this was coming, viruses in automobiles. Seems like there’s a pesky one going around nabbing Lexus LX470’s and LS430’s. They are spread via Bluetooth phones into the vehicle and then infect it’s operating system. “If infected mobile devices are scary, just thinking about an infected onboard computer,” head of anti-virus research at Russian firm Kaspersky, Eugene Kaspersky, told SC Magazine. The virus currently only infects the Navigation system but whose to say other vehicle functions won’t be next? So for now, maybe at worst the GPS software will make you turn on to on-coming traffic on a one-way street. Either way, it’s scary and bad news for luxury car manufacturers who believe technology integration is the next level in luxury.
