It seems that men and women at the FCC are hard at work, churning out those approvals for new wireless gadgets and other technologies. Just take a look at one of the most recent approvals.
Despite it being a holiday week, FCC employees are hard at work, and ASUS has received approval to release in the United States a new cellular-wireless Pocket PC.
The P505 will run Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Phone Edition. At this point, it isn’t clear if it will use the latest version of this operating system, which would give its display support for both portrait and landscape modes.
It will use a 416 MHz Intel PXA270 processor and have 64 MB of RAM. It will also include an SD/SDIO slot for additional storage.
This is one of a new generation of cellular-wireless Pocket PCs that are smaller than their predecessors. It will be 4.25 inches tall, 2.4 inches wide, and 0.9 inches thick (10.8 cm by 6.0 cm by 2.25 cm). It will weigh 6.0 ounces (170 g).
Because of its small size, the P505 will include a smaller than average QVGA display, just 2.4 inches when measured diagonally.
