Seidio Does Right with Its iPAQ Car Mount

I gleefully told you gadget freaks out there about Seidio’s car kit mount for the new HP iPAQ hx4700 last week and now I have to
tell you about my experience with it. In one word: awesome. I have not been this impressed with a gadget in a long time and I’m
just thoroughly impressed with it. Seidio just did everything right with it.

When I opened the plain, unmarked white box, things were a bit disheveled - but nothing was defective. I picked up the directions,
tossed them to the side, and like a six-year-old kid, started taking all the pieces and putting them together as if I was playing
with Legos all over again. Everything snaps into place and then it’s off to your ride. Once positioned in your driver seat, place
the mounting suction cup on your windshield to about eye level and press that tab in to give it a good sucking seal to the window!

Now I must admit, when I completed this task, I had little faith in the “bendy” arm that is attached to the suction cup on one end
and to the mount on the other. Why? Well that Arkon universal mount I have has such an arm and man, it bounces up and down more
then a pogo stick under a five-year-old’s feet! You can’t read jack from your little PDA’s screen while driving down the street,
let alone follow directions from the GPS program. But to my amazement, Seidio must have actually tested its product before selling
it, there is only a slight vibration once in a while while traveling on fair streets. Sure, if there are lots of bumps and potholes
in your path, this thing bounces - but so does the melon on top of your neck!

I am also pleased with the external speaker. It amplifies your PocketPC’s audio very clearly and in a rich tone. No crackle or
distortion at maximum volume. The mounts position to the bendy-arm at the top of it concerned me at first , but I later found it to be an advantage as it allowed me to position my PocketPC below my dash’s ridge line. So the bottom part of the mount, which isn’t
needed for me to see anyway, dips below my steering wheel’s arch and thus removes my blind spot on the windshield. Excellent!

I haven’t hooked up my hardwire power connection as it didn’t come with the unit as earlier reported. It’s an accessory (stated in
the manual) and when I reported my disappointment with Seidio that its site made it appear that it came with the unit, the company promptly sent an e-mail with the good news that it was sending me one free of charge. Now THAT’S customer service! I’m also
excited to use the auxiliary power ports for my Navman Bluetooth unit, too. But I’m sure they’ll all work like a charm; everything
else has.

So if you’re looking for an awesome car mount kit that fits your iPAQ hx4700 like a glove (and this one does!) then look no farther
then Seidio’s Web site. I know MobilePlanet carries its other models and I’m sure you’ll see this one there soon, too. Without a doubt, this car kit will mount one huge
smile upon your face when you hit the open road with your beautiful VGA PocketPC sitting happily in front of your mug.
