AARP lobbies against mobile phones

Are seniors being screwed by mobile phone companies? Well, it is posible, I suppose, and the AARP most certainly seems to feel that this is the case. According to MobileTracker, specific marketing techniques aimed at seniors have the association in an uproar. Now, I think the AARP is great. I respect them and like the work they do. But where in the world are they seeing commercials for mobile phones targeting seniors? No, seriously, I have yet to see anyone on TV or anywhere else for that matter.

The New York Times has a piece today about the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) objecting to US cellular carriers’ marketing towards senior citizens. The industry is looking towards people over 65 as the last untapped market. The AARP might have enough pull to help out everyone, not just retired persons…
