Cellphone Cameras Used to Cheat at School

As most of us already know, camera phones have many uses. Some of them good and some of them not so good. One of these “not so good” uses include cheating in school. I know, how can this be, they are just kids, right? But with the costs of cell phones constantly coming down and the pricing plans becoming more friendly, many kids today have access to cell phones. And some of them happen to have cameras. Cheating is just too tempting, I guess.

Now that we are all back to school The Wall Street Journal reports on the use of cell phones in the classroom… as cheating devices. New York City has a ban on cell phones in schools while others have their students keep them stored, or collect them in a basket before a test.

The article covers some of the ways students cheat with phones like txt msging, cameras, and whispered conversations (when are we going to see Bluetooth headsets enter the picture?) And points out that cheating is a continuous problem. Even though they know the Blackberries can be used as cheating tools, the University of Maryland is giving away Blackberries to all graduate business school students because their mobile connectivity benefits are so great.
